Homelessness Prevention and Rapid Re-housing Program (HPRP)
|
|
The Homelessness Prevention and Rapid Re-Housing Program (HPRP) is a federally funded program administered by the United Way of Ocean County. It is designed to help individuals and families who have experienced a temporary life change which causes financial stress, leading to eviction or the threat of homelessness.
If an individual or family qualifies, the program may be able to help with rental arrearages or security deposits, and rental assistance.
If you know a person who may qualify or think you may yourself, you MUST be screened by the Board of Social Services (BOSS), located at 1027 Hooper Ave., Toms River in Building 4 (same as Special Response.) Ask to be screened for the HPRP program, run by United Way of Ocean County. BOSS will screen you and fax your information over to United Way of Ocean County. Once your screening sheet is received, please allow 72 hours for the case workers to look over your information and call you.
If you do not hear from the case workers in that time frame, you may call (732) 473-1710 and leave a message. A case worker will call you back as soon as they are available.
Preliminary Qualifications to be screened*:
- You MUST have an eviction notice with court date and docket number OR be currently homeless to qualify.
- You MUST have a qualifying event which put you behind on your rent. Example: Job loss, illness, etc.
- You must have some form of income which will sustain you when assistance ends.
*Additional qualifications will be discussed after your screening sheet is processes and a HPRP case worker looks it over. Be aware that these are NOT the only qualifications for the program.
If you have any questions please call (732) 473-1710 and leave a message. A case worker will return your call as soon as they are available.
