NATIONAL SUCCESS BY 6 INITIATIVE COMES TO OCEAN COUNTY
Success by 6, the nation's largest network of early childhood coalitions, is dedicated to assuring that all children, by age six, have received the necessary emotional, physical and social development skills that are needed to successfully embrace the educational experience.
United Way of Ocean County is pleased to announce that a Success by 6 license has been granted from United Way of America to bring this model to Ocean County.
To receive a Success by 6 license, the Board of Directors of United Way of Ocean County has agreed to numerous principles and needs to adhere to ongoing obligations established by this program. The keystone is the multi segmented Success by 6 Leadership Committee which advises on what projects and programs are the most effective for the community. Representatives from the Ocean County Department of Human Services, the Ocean County Health Department, Division of Youth and Family Services, Children's Home Society, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, O.C.E.A.N. Inc, Ocean County Library and United Way have come together to create the leadership committee who will develop the direction for Ocean County.
The committee has elected that the first Success by 6 project would support the Strengthening Families Initiative which focuses on abuse and neglect prevention for children. This will be initiated through 5 selected pre-school sites throughout the county.
