
CAMPAIGN CHAIR DON COWAN KICKS OFF 2007/2008 - NEW GOAL OF $1.67 MILLION
September 19, 2007 was a morning for celebration as friends and partners of United Way of Ocean County gathered at the Toms River Country Club to recognize the businesses and individuals that helped make this past year such a success. Welcomed by Board President Phil Scallon and addressed by Campaign Chair Don Cowan the new campaign year was kicked off with style and gratitude.
United Way of Ocean County's Executive Director, Anu Gupta presented Jennifer McMahon of Perlmutter Family of ShopRites with the Warren G. Christenson Award and Sue Sedivec of Big Brothers/Big Sisters with the Constance K. Weaver Award. These awards are symbols of the dedication these women continue to bring to United Way of Ocean County. Kathy Durante, Executive Director of OceanFirst Foundation accepted this year's Benefactor Award of behalf of her company. "OceanFirst Foundation's caring and continued support exemplifies its commitment to our community," said Anu Gupta. Amergen/Exelon Oyster Creek Generating Station accepted multiple awards for Outstanding Community Service, Best Corporate Campaign and Campaign Coordinators of the Year. Together with Wackenhut Security and IBEW 1289, Amergen/Exelon surpassed all goals making theirs the largest United Way campaign in Ocean County. Cowan, Gunteski & Co. also won the Outstanding Community Service Award in recognition of the Spirit of Corporate Social Responsibility at all levels in the community. Shawn Micheals and Sue Moll were on hand to accept WOBM Millennium Radio's award for Organization of the Year acknowledging their efforts of bringing the United Way of Ocean County messages into home and car radios throughout the county.
